What You Need To Know About Your Deer Chihuahua

Although a lot of dog breeders have not acknowledged the existence of deer Chihuahua as another breed, a lot of people have developed fondness for this type of dog. For these people, regardless of what some experts have to say about deer Chihuahuas, they still love these small fiery creatures. If you are one of those proud owners of deer Chihuahuas, here are some important things that you need to know about your pet.

 

Origin Of The Breed

 

The origins of the deer Chihuahua is still being debated as we speak. Some experts believe that the ancestors of the deer Chihuahua are the ancient Techichi dog of the Mayans and the Chinese Crested dog. The mating of these two breeds of dogs was said to produce the original deer Chihuahua. On the other hand, some experts believe that the deer Chihuahua are descendants of foxes which explain the intelligent and alert nature of these little dogs. As to which of these group of experts were right regarding the origins of the deer Chihuahua, only time will tell. In the meanwhile, what we can do is enjoy the company of you pet. As long as you are having fun with your pet, who cares about its ancestors!

 

Temperament

 

By nature, the deer Chihuahua are graceful creatures, they are alert and they tend to move swiftly. It doesn’t matter if they are small and they have short legs, they can easily get to places fast and easy. These little dogs love a lot of attention and they want to please their owners. However, when it comes to temperaments, the deer Chihuahua is not exactly the model of patients. This type of dog is easily provoked and tends to be particularly loyal to one owner. Yes, your dog loves you a lot and it will do it’s very best to protect you if it thinks that someone is threatening you. Not that it can do a lot to protect you though. With its size, the best that it can do is to bark its head off at an intruder but then again, a lot of barking can scare intruders away.

 

Deer Chihuahuas are fiercely possessive so if you have children at home, you might want to think twice about bring your little friend home. These little creatures are not really mean spirited but they tend to be aggressive at times and they are known to bite their handlers. To avoid any problems between your little kids and your little deer Chihuahua, do not bring the little fellow home to live with the kids. On the other hand, if you live alone and you have boisterous children to think about, having a deer Chihuahua for company is a good thing. Just make sure that you train your dog well if you do not want to put up with all its yipping. The deer Chihuahua is not known for being a “yippee” breed for nothing. They may be small but they can cause a lot of noise in the house so make sure that you train your little pet to behave well and keep the noise down. You don’t really want the neighbors to complain about all the noise.

 

Health

 

Like most types of dogs, the deer Chihuahua needs a lot of medical attention especially as they grow older. This type of dog is prone to certain types of neurological disorders like seizures and epilepsy. Actually, these types of disorders are some sort of genetic anomaly that often accompany some breed of dogs. Most dogs do not manifest any symptoms of the disorder early in life but as they grow older, they may show signs and symptoms of the disease. However, the good news is that these types of disorders can be corrected with proper care and medical attention. To get some ideas as to whether or not your dog is prone to certain types of diseases, you should ask the breeder about its parents. If the parents of the dog suffered certain types of genetic anomalies, there is a big possibility that your pet also has the same genetic anomaly.

 

Feeding Your Dog

 

Deer Chihuahuas can be quite picky when it comes to their food. Give your food variety of food and see which ones it likes. Just make sure that you do not feed your dog too much. Overweight dogs are more prone to diseases that those lean ones.
